After the calls for a cease-fire in S/RES/209 and S/RES/2010 went unheeded, with this resolution the Council demanded that a cease-fire take effect on 22 September with both forces withdrawing to the positions held before 5 August.

Demands that a cease-fire take effect on Wednesday, September 22, 1965 at 0700 GMT and calls upon GoI and GoP to issue orders for a cease-fire at that moment and a subsequent withdrawal of all armed personnel to pre-August 5, 1965 positions

Decides to consider what steps could be taken to assist towards a settlement of the political problem underlying the present conflict and calls on GoI and GoP to utilize all peaceful means to this end

Requests the UN Secretary-General to exert every possible effort to give effect to Resolution 211 and to seek a peaceful solution
